A French religious group that followed the order of the canons was invited to live in the Abbey in 1979 but it needed to be restored, which took until 1992. The Archbishop of Siena, in the homily he delivered on the fifth of September 1992, on the occasion of the re-establishment of conventual [religious] life at the Abbey said that, "This is Sant'Antimo's sermon: if men will not speak, the stones will cry."
