The Vaporetti ("waterbus")

There are only two modes of travel -- by foot and by boat. The most common transport is the "waterbus." You can buy a single ticket, good for 90 minutes or a one day, two day, or three day passes. The vaparetti run on the honor system but there is a hefty penalty if you are checked and don't have a valid ticket.
